KOIARI Nagavas are focused on completing the second half of the Southern Super League season strongly, after a month-long hiatus in response to a surge in Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in October.
Nagavas head coach Norris Selu said on Friday that his side were ready to resume their campaign this week under the competition’s new Covid-19 protocols.
“We’re eighth on the ladder and we have about six games left before the end of the season,” he said.
“It’s shaping up to be a strong finish to the season despite the third wave of Covid-19 which had forced us to defer the competition.
“Without spectators, I know it will be unusual for the teams coming back.
“But if we want to finish strongly, we need to remain focused.
“The big factor for the league is the ‘no jab, no play’ policy.
“But most of our players have been vaccinated as we aim to meet the requirements to resume our campaign.
“For Nagavas, we’re not forcing any player to take the jab.
“It’s up to them as stated by the organisers of the competition.”
Nagavas are the representative team of Sogeri with the majority of its players selected from the rugby league competition there.
Apart from the competition at Sogeri, Selu said players from Port Moresby Rugby Football League club Dobo Warriors and Moresby South Rugby League outfit Talai Spartans are also part of Nagavas.
