Namah urges students not to lose hope in education

VANIMO-GREEN MP Belden Namah has urged grade 10 and 12 school leavers who do not receive offers from secondary and tertiary institutions to not lose hope.
Namah said this at graduation ceremonies of three secondary schools in his Vanimo-Green River electorate in West Sepik last week.
The schools were Green River Secondary School and Don Bosco Secondary School on Thursday and Vanimo Secondary School on Friday.
Namah urged students who missed out not to feel like failures.
He said there were many factors that caused a student not to reach his or her potential.
“You should not feel like a failure,” Namah said.
“Probably the time was not right for you to continue.
“Maybe your current situation is not good for your learning situation. You usually don’t have breakfast and come for classes.
“You are from a broken family and face psychological abuse.
“Probably your current situation is not conducive to study and so you didn’t get an offer to continue to the next level after grade 12 and 10.”
He urged them to reassess their situations and look for opportunities with what they had learned so far.
Namah said opportunities always came around and many successful people in the country had started off in similar positions.
He encouraged all students to be committed to their studies and to work hard and not be involved in activities that would prevent them from doing well.
