PORT Moresby Women’s Softball Association will stage a pre-season tournament, the Nancy Kamara Cup, this weekend at Bisini softball diamonds.
POMSWA spokesman Francis Dakeni said the tournament would be played in a round-robin format over three weekends.
The winners will collect the Kamara Cup plus K300, the runners-up pick up K250 and K200 will go to third place while fourth place will collect K150.
Dakeni said the women had a slow start this season but he hoped to complete the season before the championships.
The association has named a 35-man training squad for the national softball championships in Madang later this year.
Dakeni said the players were picked on their performance last year.
The players have been levied K1,000 and they will have to carry out fundraising activities to prepare for the championships.
