Nangs Ori beat Penzing Bees to claim trophy, cash prize

NANGS Ori, of Paparom village, beat Japaragua’s Penzing Bees to claim the winners trophy and K2,000 in the men’s soccer final of a Christmas tournament in Yangoru-Saussia, East Sepik on Saturday.
The week-long tournament, which was sponsored by local company Henimba Limited, attracted 27 teams for men’s soccer and 14 sides for women’s volleyball.
In the volleyball final, Munji Sisters beat Nangu Ice to claim the winners’ trophy and K1,000.
In the soccer final, Penzing Bees settled for K1,200 and the runners-up trophy.
Br Collections settled for third, claiming a trophy and K1,000 after defeating Simbangoos who walked away with K800.
Henimba Limited managing director Andrias Hombo said he would join other businessmen in supporting youths through sports.
He thanked the youths who contributed to a trouble-free tournament which attracted teams from nearly 10 communities.
“I’m happy to help sports reach the next level,” Hombo told the players.
He invited the top-two men’s soccer teams to compete in another tournament which he will host in the Numbo local-level government area.
