BUANG FC coach Raymond Nasa has applauded six Toti City FC players for securing contracts to play overseas.
The six players are Raymond Gunemba (Geelong FC, Australia) Nigel Dabinyaba (Hamilton, New Zealand), Jacob Sabua (Malaita Kings, Solomon Islands), Emmanuel Simon (Malaita Kings, Solomon Islands), Japheth Tiampo (Henderson, Solomon Islands) and Obert Bika, (Henderson, Solomon Islands).
Nasa, who was a former national representative from 1985 to 1993, said the opportunity for the six players to play abroad indicated that the National Soccer League (NSL) was a pathway.
Nasa said City, who successfully defended their title, were leading by example and all other franchises must look at them as the benchmark team in the country.
“I congratulate these six players on their achievements,” Nasa said.
“They did well to guide City to win the NSL title.
“A lot of young players look up to them, especially players like Raymond Gunemba and Nigel Dabinyaba.
“They’ve been engaging with schools.
“Their successes challenge other franchises like us to look for good players and establish programmes to strengthen them.”
