Nasfund gains new members

 NASFUND has added 32,524 new contributors to its superannuation fund despite a slight decline this year.

The country’s largest super fund now has 173,387 active members, according to its mid-year report.

The report said Nasfund continued to conduct active marketing and awareness campaigns throughout the country “to encourage members to join and enjoy the benefit of seeing their savings grow in a secure and prosperous environment”.

The number of members by region are: Highlands -12,028; Mamose – 49,611; Islands -18,576; National Capital District – 80,219; and Southern 12,953.

The report said a majority of member enquiries in all the branches related to balances and statements despite the fund’s textbal and savebal mobile phone services. 

It added that members wanted more details on their SMS which has prompted the fund to look at expanding information provided on the enquiry screen. 

“This is work in progress and Nasfund acknowledges the concerns of members with regard to certain aspects of its services; especially processing times, long queues and inform so that the fund can address the concerns.” 

The report said Nasfund was planning to open a second client service centre in Port Moresby and Lae where the largest concentration (75%) of its membership is based. 

It said the fund was also considering improving the back office administration system to enhance information flow to members and reduce or eliminate the need to attend its client service branches. 

“Nasfund is also looking at various options to enhance the use of mobile phones in addition to the existing textbal and savebal services it currently provides to its members.”
