THE Port Moresby Nature Park says University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) student community accounts for about 40 per cent of the park’s membership.
The park made this known in a statement after it offered a special promotional membership registration for all UPNG Students and staff on Thursday.
UPNG students and staff who joined as members of the park were charged a full year’s membership fee of K60.
The park said upon signing up as members, each new member received two prepaid entry passes.
The park said it was a charity organisation that relied on grants and donor funding to operate.
“By visiting the park and joining its membership programme, you help support the park in preserving PNG’s unique natural environment for future generations, including the park’s 350 resident animals, the majority of which have been surrendered to the park for care.”
