I WOULD like to commend Nawaeb District and Morobe Provincial Disaster teams for responding quickly to Torowa villagers’ distress call during a fire that was burning down houses in that village.

To respond to calls for assistance within an hour is not heard of often in PNG and I take my hat off for the two coordinating teams from Morobe province.

You have set a standard for the rest of the disaster coordinating agencies in the country to follow.

Most often we hear of government agencies taking their time to respond to assist those stricken by natural and man-made disasters.

Only those who have been to the area will know the distance between the district headquarters and Lae to Torowa village and the time it takes to reach the village. Keep up the good work.

Disasters can strike without warning therefore only well-coordinated  and well prepared offices can be able to respond in quick time like what the Nawaeb District and the Morobe Provincial teams did.
