THE National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) will look to maintain their spot at the top of the Public Servants Netball Association ladder when they face Works Department in Port Moresby tomorrow.
With the support of its managing director Kora Nou, who has boosted their confidence with the presentation of new uniforms, NBC are going from strength to strength in the premier division this season.
Works were once a glamour team but have lost touch and have yet to recover, like Finance Department.
In the other premier division fixtures, Finance face National Housing Commission and National Fisheries Authority meet PNG Power.
Led by veteran Lillian Yaruso, NBC are leading the six-team division with 13 points after round one before the competition went into a recess for the festive period.
In second spot are National Fisheries Authority (12) followed by National Housing Corporation (11), Finance (seven), PNG Power (five) and Works (four).
“We have only three matches remaining before the top-four teams are confirmed,” association president Maria Maima-Laka told The National.
“The semifinals are expected to be held in the middle of February before the grand final at the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex on Feb 22.”
She said a meeting was held yesterday to advise team management to observe and abide by the player eligibility rules with offenders to be penalised.
“This is in line with our constitution and team managements are aware of it and should comply,” Maima-Laka said.
“We want to educate our members to encourage and promote fair play by fielding public servants and/or their immediate spouses and children only.”
