THE Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association has accepted the mid-season withdrawal of Yokomo’s A-Grade team, leaving only eight sides in the premier division at the Bisini Diamonds.
Association president Ian Soweni warned clubs with outstanding registration fees to pay them by tomorrow.
He said United Sisters, Saints and Bears had yet to settle their registration fee of K2,000, which they needed to pay in full before taking the field tomorrow.
Soweni said clubs that did not pay their fees by this weekend would be penalised according to the rules of the association.
“This is the final warning and clubs should adhere to this advice of which they are all aware,” he said.
“Yokomo (B-Grade), Mariners and Gazelle have paid their fees in full and deserve the competition points if the other clubs fail to settle their dues before their respective matches.”
Competition leaders and reigning champions United Sisters face Moni Plus Gazelle in what is billed as the match of the weekend.
Bears face Saints, Wantoks take on Mariners and Stringerz meet Chebu.
Meanwhile, the association will be running a five-day workshop for coaches, technical officials and administrators from Monday.
Soweni said 16 coaches and officials, and 17 sports administrators would attend the workshop.
He said the association would partner the Papua New Guinea Baseball Softball Confederation, PNG Sports Foundation and PNG Olympic Committee to run the workshop.
