NCD observes Yoga Day with fewer than 100

THE United Nations-sanctioned International Yoga Day was observed in the nation’s capital with fewer than 100 residents participating in various activities.
The number was restricted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop took part in the celebrations which started early at Era Kone (Ela Beach) with yoga by the beach. “We have to keep going and delivering,” Parkop said.
“Our goal is to change our people to be healthy and positive.
“Yoga teaches a person to respect and be responsible for your body, thoughts and emotions.
“When change is about to occur, there will be resistance.
“We must always be resilient and continue to persevere,” he said.
“To get to the top and to the outcome that we want, one has to go through the valley of death because changing behaviour and mindset is never easy.
“We will be subjected to so much attack and push back.
“Eventually, we will begin to see the results.”
UN General Assembly sanctioned the day in 2014 to be celebrated annually worldwide. It is significant for global health, harmony and peace.
The yoga movement in the city and country is gaining momentum due to its amazing health and emotional benefits.
National Pandemic Controller and Police Commissioner David Manning prohibits gathering of more than 100 people.
