New board aiming high

HELA has a new-look education board that is aiming to lift academic performance and eliminate malpractice, education adviser Ronnie Angu says.
He said the Provincial Education Act warranted the establishment of the board as the body responsible for administering the implementation of education policies and plans under the provincial administration.
Angu wants the board to be prepared to participate responsibly with primary focus on serving every Hela child in school.
He also wants good attitude and responsible behaviour as well.
“The Hela education division is concerned with the ineffectiveness and maladministration by school boards and governing councils in collaboration with principals and head teachers,” he said.
