GRADE 8 students of Kamanakam Primary School have a new double classroom.

It is one of the rural schools in East New Britain located in the inland Baining area of Gazelle district.

Digicel Foundation funded the  classroom.

Islands regional manager of Digicel PNG Nicole Vate said the Kamanakam classroom project was the third project in the Gazelle district and the fifth in the province funded by the foundation.

“We will continue to deliver projects into the communities that need them the most,” she said.

Vate said delivering such services  depended on how effective communities were in supporting them.

“When we fail to look after such vital infrastructures, our children miss out on better learning opportunities in better learning environments,” she said.

Vate said the double classroom cost K210,000.

“Digicel is happy that we can give back to the community, not only through communication but helping our people in areas such as education since it’s part of building the nation,” she said.

Vate said since the start of the foundation in 2008, it has funded 69 elementary school classrooms and 52 primary school projects.
