ASSISTANT Comm of Police (ACP) for the New Guinea Islands region Anton Billie hosted a welcome parade for Police Comm David Manning.
The welcome parade was cerebrated together with a Police Remembrance Day service.
The service was held at the Ralum regional police headquarters in Kokopo, East New Britain.
ACP Billie said Manning was on his first official duty outside Port Moresby.
He said the reason for Manning’s visit was to honour fellow police personnel who lost their lives in line of duty in PNG and the region.
ACP Billie congratulated Manning on his appointment as commander of police.
He thanked Manning for returning to his home province.
Manning said he was honoured by the welcome and the opportunity to remember dedicated personnel who had served the force in PNG and in other countries.
He said Sept 29 was a special day for the police to remember.
