JUSTICE Stephen Kassman was reappointed National and Supreme Court judge for three years at a ceremony at Government House yesterday.
Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae officiated the swearing-in. Justice Kassman was to start his duties immediately.
Deputy Chief Justice Ambeng Kandakasi and Justice Les-Gavera Nanu were among those who attended.
Justice Kassman told reporters that he would go back to Kopoko to serve the people there.
“Kokopo needs about three judges to deal with the demanding civil cases,” he said.
He served as the resident judge for the Mendi National Court in Southern Highlands until the burning down of the courthouse by disgruntled citizens in 2018.
He was then transferred to East New Britain and became the resident judge at the Kokopo National Court until he completed his last term.
