THE construction of the new Digine High School in Gumine, Chimbu, is taking shape and will take in students next year when completed.
The school infrastructure construction taking place at Karamaril sub-district is expected to be completed this month.
Medina Building and Construction is building the new double classrooms and expects to complete construction by July 10.
The contractor started work on the building earlier this month and employed a team of 30 workers.
Two new classrooms and a staff office have already been completed.
Karamaril community leader Peter Gonare said there were already eight classrooms ready for use with 15 staff accommodation units to be made available from the sub-district buildings.
“The staff accommodation is an interim arrangement,” he said.
“The following year, staff houses will be built.
“The new Digine High School will enrol over 300 students from nine of the feeder schools in Kel-Biri, Aun, Gaima, Aihalunga, Sipakul, Genabona, Ningoruma and Pildimna, all in Digine local level government.”
