New market for Witipos villagers
The National, tuesday 04th September 2012
MOTHERS from the Witipos village in Ward 19 of the Mumeng local level government area in Bulolo were delighted after their local MP and deputy opposition leader Sam Basil opened their new market.
The project was initiated by Basil and each LLG in the district would have its own market.
Most of the villages along the Bulolo Highway contributed K30,000 each towards their project and Witipos was among them.
Neighbouring Bayune village opened theirs three weeks ago and Gawapu in the Watut LLG will open theirs next week.
Basil praised Cr Yansom Bamla of Witipos for a job well done and said the funds that were deposited directly into the ward councillors’ accounts were used immediately by the councillors.
He said LLG managers who received funds should work with their councillors and start building their markets.
On behalf of mothers, Yandumo Sori thanked Basil for his initiative to build the markets along the highway, as Bulolo was a mining district and truck drivers and other visitors frequented the area.
District administrator Tae Gwembelek said villagers and youths should look after their market and help mothers to plant more greens so they could earn more cash.
