New nuncio for PNG

Fr Fermin Emilio Sosa Rodriguez

PAPUA New Guinea will now have a new apostolic nuncio Fr Fermin Emilio Sosa Rodriguez, according to the Vatican.
Fr Pope Francis appointed Fr Rodriguez apostolic nuncio and a titular Archbishop of Virunum last Wednesday.
Fr Rodruiguez was born on April 12, 1968, in Izamal, Mexico, and entered the Yutican seminary in 1991 and ordained as priest on July 12, 1998.
He was later elevated to archbishop of Yutican.
Fr Rodruiguez then entered the Pontifical Ecclesiastical academy in preparation for a career in the Vatican’s diplomatic service.
He gained a doctorate in Canon church law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in 2002.
Fr Rodruiguez then entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on Jan 1, 2003, and served in the Apostolic Nunciatures in PNG (2003 -2007), Coted’Ivoire (2007), and Burkina Faso (2007-2012).
