NEW Port Moresby Vipers head coach Andiki Andrew says he is confident of steering the Moni Plus-sponsored side, who occupy the last finals spot, into the playoffs with five rounds left in the regular season.
He took over from Joe Sipa and oversaw the Vipers’ return to the top-six with an 18-14 round-12 win over the visiting Mt Hagen Eagles at the Santos National Football Stadium on Saturday.
“It’s good to bounce back into the winner’s circle after losing four games,” Andrew said.
“It won’t be an easy ride for us as we approach the finals.
“But we’ll remain upbeat for the remaining five games.”
He said they needed to improve in a few areas.
“I won’t be changing a lot of things,” Andrew said.
“I will only polish up whatever that needs to be improved. I’ve told the boys to re-focus, change their attitude and revive our bond.
“We’re slowly getting back to our feet.
“We’ll look to continue the momentum.”
He is counting on Yunny Patrick, Karis Peter, Brian Gispe and Stanton Albert to lead the side on the field.
“We’re still in contention for the premiership,” Andiki he said.
“With the help of these experienced players, I’m confident that they will lead the team into the finals this year,” Andrew said earlier this week.
