NGI and Northern ready for AGM

PNGRFL affiliates from the Islands (NGI) and Northern zones are ready to participate in this Sunday’s annual general meeting in Lae.
PNGRFL regional development officers Steve Malum (Northern) and Alois Tobata (NGI) yesterday confirmed that leagues from their regions had already complied with the PNGRFL constitutional requirements and were on their way to Lae.
According to Malum the eight leagues from Northern zone are Ramu, Kainantu, Madang, Wau, Bulolo, Tulerizah (EHP), Popondetta and Lae (unconfirmed) while Tobata confirmed Islands zone would also have eight including  East New Britain, Bialla, Ulamona, Kimbe, Duke of York, Hoskins, Ramoaina and Lihir.
Both Malum and Tobata said their leagues had done the neccessary work to prepare for the AGM and had been given ample time after PNGRFL interim committee chairman John Numapo released a circular in September.
“We were all given enough time to get our houses in order and all we want is to elect a president and executive who can really develop    rugby league in the rural communities because that’s where most of the people play,” Malum said.
“We also want a president who will have the time and expertise to develop rugby league and not be too busy for the grassroots.”
