A Lae-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) has received positive feedback for its efforts in assisting survivors of family and sexual violence.
FemiliPNG has been running a case management centre along with relevant partner organisations since 2014.
Most people who are victimes of family and sexual violence or child abuse seek services at the centre.
In the beginning of last year, the NGO did its first satisfaction survey which involved 39 of its clients.
The survey results confirmed that the NGO had taken a holistic approach, with most clients receiving three to four services.
“The five most important services are counselling, medical, transport, legal and police assistance,” the survey report said.
“Although FemiliPNG is not a formal counselling service, the informal counselling provided is the most popular service among clients, and regarded as the most important.”
The NGO helps to access legal services and police assistance.
Case work manager Evan Bieso said that it was important for FemiliPNG to get feedback from clients.
“We are glad that with our partners we can provide a good service,” he said.
“We are working hard with our partners to help survivors obtain appropriate and timely services.”
Nearly all clients are satisfied with the services. But the main complaint of some clients was the delay in accessing those services.
