A TOTAL of 2,525 affordable homes will be built at the Duran Farm at 9-Mile in Port Moresby as part of the Government’s effort to address a lack of housing in the city, Housing Minister Justin Tkatchenko says.
Tkatchenko said the houses built would be affordable for low income earners in the city who could not easily buy homes.
He signed a memorandums of agreement with China State Construction Engineering Corporation and Quick Build under a social housing programme. “We will be working closely with the National Housing Cooperation (NHC) to ensure that low cost housing is affordable to any ordinary Papua New Guinean who can afford it with their normal pay level,” Tkatchenko said.
NHC managing director Henry Mokono said 500 hectares of land each would be given to China State Construction Engineering Corporation and Quick Built to start building.
