ACTING Registrar-General of the PNG Civil and Identity Registry Michael Kumung says the registry is now engaging closely with other government agencies and stakeholders in the private sector to register citizens.
Kumung said this in Port Moresby yesterday during a stakeholders workshop to educate officers from state agencies regarding registration and the need to roll it out through strong partnerships with all agencies of State as well as the private sector.
“Our target for 2018 is to register 1.5 million people throughout the country and our current statistics is around 370,000 people being registered.”
Kumung said to achieve the target of 1.5 million people they have to come up with workable strategies and they have already established mobile teams ready to roll out the NID registrations.
“We have eight mobile registration teams already in place and ready to register all employees of state agencies, the public servants.
“And this workshop is part of our strategy to engage with officers from the human resource and corporate services divisions of all state agencies so they become our agents in their respective organisations when it comes to doing registrations for public servants.”
