COACH Peter Dedevbo’s girls were victorious against their male opponents in a warm-up game played in
Abuja on Saturday evening.
The Nigeria U20 women’s team beat Abees Academy 4-3 in a friendly match played at the Fifa goal project pitch.
Goals from Yetunde Adegboyejo, Tessy Biahwo, Chinaza Uchendu and Charity Chetachukwu helped Dedevbo’s side overcome their stubborn opponents.
Favour Akem fired Abees ahead in the third minute, but Adeboyejo slotted home the leveller five minutes later to ensure half-time ended 1-1.
In the second-half, both sides failed to find a scoring breakthrough until the 70th minute when Biahwo restored the Falconets lead but Davis Solomon equalised eight minutes later.
Uchendu put the national side back in front in the 80th minute and Chetachukwu increased the tally to 4-2 five minutes to full time but Akem’s late strike could not deny the Falconets the victory.
The African representatives continue their preparations for next month’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea.
