HUNTERS back Brandon Nima says he struggled to adjust to be an effective edge player after moving from the centres to the wing last season but is working on his game and being effective in his new position.
The former Goroka Lahani said he has now found his feet in his new role which has seen him score four tries with more running metres after four games this season.
“I struggled last year when was shifted to wing early in the season because throughout my career I’ve only never been a centre,” the 27-year old said.
“But I’ve tried my best trying to get familiar playing on the edge and I think it’s all good now. I’ve put in a lot of work during preseason, doing a lot of practice on the wing and positional play and it’s paid off because I’ve scored a number tries in the first three rounds this season.
“I give credit to the boys in the middle (forwards), they lay the platform and I just do my job on the wing.”
Nima may be playing close to side line but he is a lead figure in the SP Brewery-sponsored side and he’s always one of the most vocal on field.
“I’ve been in the team for five years now what I do on the field, that’s who I am, I try to lead by example,” Nima said.
“There’s a lot of young, new players who are making transition into Hunters and I try to be role a role model to them.
“I try to help in whatever way I can if they need help.”
Nima will face-off with fellow Papua New Guinean and Eastern Highlander Steven Numambo who was named on the wing for the Dolphins.
However Nima said his side were focused and determined to add another win to their two so far this season.
“It’s going to be tough playing against the Dolphins but for us, we’ve spoke about making National Football Stadium our fortress; we want to win all our home games so we are prepared for that clash.”
