Nipa students missing out

Letters

This week I asked my small brother, who will be sitting for the grade 10 national examinations next week, how his preparations for his exams were going.
In response, he said that term 1 and term 2 were affected by last year’s national election court battle between Governor Powi and runner-up Chief Kopol, resulting in the burning down of the PNG Air Dash 8 aircraft.
Teachers took advantage of the trouble and did not show up to classes. My brother said the principal had been missing from school since term 1 and has been operating from outside the province. Most of the units in the text books were not covered and the exam days were here.
I feel for my small brother’s education.
There are more than 500 others like him at Nipa Secondary School.
The provincial or national department of education should step in immediately to deal with this issue before it is too late.
