TRANSPORT Minister William Samb, last Friday, launched the National Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA) four-year corporate plan (2020-2024) aimed at achieving five strategic long-term goals.
The goals are:

  • SAFER maritime transport;
  • CLEANER environment;
  • EFFECTIVE search and rescue coordination and international obligations;
  • RESULT orientated and client focused outcomes; and,
  • STRATEGIC planning through defined strategic directions.

“The plan lays the foundation for the NMSA, setting an ambitious, but a purposeful, road map to 2024,” Samb said.
He said a corporate plan was a mandatory legislative requirement which covered environment, strategies, performance indicators, performance review, risk analysis of factors that were likely to affect maritime safety, maritime pollution presentation, maritime search and rescue, human resources and community engagement strategies.
