No free service from private health providers

 MPs who questioned

the Pacific International Hospital’s (PIH) “cash first, life later” policy as unethical are ridiculous.

What is unethical is their failure to meet the needs of Papua New Guineans and provide us with adequate health services in the first place.

They chose not to address their own shortcomings and preferred to pick on the flaws of private entities that provide these basic services at a very high cost to the people of PNG.

Like any other private businesses operating in an environment with ineffective support systems, PIH has every right to deny service if not paid for.

What business provides free products and services?

The government should be supporting many of these entities and working with them through partnership programmes as they do not have the capability and capacity to immediately fix our health issues.

If these MPs are expecting free services,

then they are obviously not living in a real world.
