No German embassy in PNG a concern

Briefs, Letters

I WOULD like to express my concern over the non-existence of a German embassy in PNG.
There was one until the late 1990s when it was closed because the ambassador was concerned about the rising law and order problems.
Germany is one of the big players in the world and its economy is one of the biggest in the world.
It is one of the leading countries in science and technology.
Germany once colonised PNG and had much influence in the Momase and New Guinea Islands area.
One of the very important roles it plays is the DED (German development services), which helps many undeveloped countries develop and to reduce poverty.
PNG used to have the DED programme.
Given the current economic boom in PNG, can the government entice the German government to re-establish its diplomatic office?
