No time limit on major criminal cases

MAJOR criminal cases reported to police do not have time limitations and can be re-opened for investigations, acting deputy commissioner operations Donald Yamasombi says.
Yamasombi made the comment in relation to the re-opening of the 2015 Hanuabada shooting incident.
He said the onus was on individuals – the relatives or others – who had new evidence to help the investigation.
Yamasombi was told of another case at Erima that occurred in 2017 where a teenager was allegedly shot by police and died at the Erima Bridge and the family of the deceased were still waiting for justice for their son.
“I will ask the family to come forward and see the new assistant commissioner for crimes Chief Supt Hodges Ette and we will progresses investigations into that case.
“The file is not closed, for all major cases one thing for us to understand is that they do not have a time limitation, so long as they are reported to police and the investigations are on foot, they are always alive.”
