THE inspiration of YWAM-PNG to provide health delivery interventions and training has been described as noble.

Angau Memorial Hospital deputy board chairwoman Sarah Todd Haoda said healthy citizens determined the country’s success.

She said Angau was excited about networking with YWAM to ensure health workers worked with the organisation to reach rural people.

Haoda said the delivery of health services required mechanisms which volunteers from different medical fields were expected to provide with a high quality of services to the people.

“Among others is the high rate of maternal and infant mortality and curable illnesses especially pneumonia and malaria. With YWAM, more positive results have already achieved and more yet to be done,” Haoda said.

She said the initiatives needed adequate government support and YWAM’s effort was timely while Australia had invested a lot in rebuilding Angau hospital.

Morobe Governor Kelly Naru acknowledged stakeholders such as PNG Ports, Puma Energy, Interoil, Swire Group of Companies, Angau, Churches Fraternal, Lutheran Health Services, Lae Chamber of Commerce, Minister for National Planning Charles Abel and others who ensured that the YWAM programme achieve its goal.
