THE Bank South Pacific Papua New Guinea National Snooker Titles’ nominations for men and women are now open.
Players intending to compete are urged to nominate and register.
In a statement, Papua New Guinea Billiards and Snooker Association acting president John Chan said nominations and registration for women close in two weeks, while the men’s close a week later.
“The fee for the women is K150 per player and must be paid by 9pm on Monday Aug 27,” he said.
“The format of the championships will be revealed at 5pm on Sept 3 after all entries are received and the women have been registered, with some matches expected to start that evening.”
Chan said 40 players were expected to compete, with interest among women building.
He said the fee for the men was K200, which must be paid by 9pm on Monday.
“All fees must be paid before the closing date in order to play,” Chan said.
Chan said only 40 players are expected to compete in the men’s titles.
Junior players are also encouraged to nominate and register.
“The juniors must be under the age of 18 and will pay a fee of K100 to compete,” Chan said.
He said players withdrawing after closing off time would forfeit their fee.
“However, should a player not register before the briefing and/or not attend the briefing at the specified time, he or she will be replaced and their fees refunded,” Chan said.
An official announcement of the partnership with BSP for the two events would be made tomorrow.
“Therefore, I urge all players to nominate and register as soon as possible,” Chan said.
“Let’s make this a national event.”
Chan said all nominations must be submitted using the association forms.
