THE district services improvement programme (DSIP) is seen as an overarching financial input for service delivery for North Fly, says MP James Donald.
He said this while presenting his 2018 DSIP acquittal reports to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development last week.
The district acquitted K4.3 million for:

  • Earthquake disaster, K1 million;
  • Alicepit-to-Indonesia Road, K500,000;
  • Smotu-to-Rampsite Road, K500,000;
  • North Fly Rubber Ltd, K500,000;
  • Ningerum town water project, K400,000;
  • Purchase of two vehicles for Nomad road mobility, K382,638.30;
  • Selkambang Festival, K300,000;
  • Star Mountain community projects, K190,000;
  • Independence, K100,000;
  • Ningerum Primary School maintenance, K100,000;
  • Ningerum SME, K20,000;
  • Olsobip LLG projects, K120,000; and,
  • Other administration expenses.

Donald said his DDA had allocated 75 per cent of its DSIP component, including other development grants, to infrastructure for the 2019 fiscal year.
“North Fly sees roads as a key enabling infrastructure to stimulate economic development and improving service delivery, especially in a district like ours which lacked road links for so many years,” he said.
Donald said apart from road and bridge projects, health, education and agri-business were also their priority areas.
