WARD councillors of Banz town, Jiwaka, have sacked a councillor from the North Waghi LLG.
The councillors sacked Peter Angelyie after he allegedly failed to attend council meetings for four years.
North Waghi LLG president Dorum Mek said Angelyie was sacked by the LLG members for not attending council meetings.
He said the other councillors overwhelmingly passed a resolution to declare the Banz town ward vacant.
He said every decision regarding service delivery was discussed at the council meeting.
Mek said councillors must attend every meeting called by the president to discuss important issues regarding the welfare of their people.
He said if one decided not to attend meetings for a very long time, “there was no point entertaining them”.
He said the seat would remain vacant until the next council election.
LLG council members have written to relevant authorities, including the Department of Provincial and LLG Affairs, to notify them of the sacking and vacancy in the seat.
