KAIRUKU-Hiri MP Peter Isoaimo yesterday urged the students of Kavovo Primary School in Mt Koiari, Central not to consider a career in politics.
Isoaimo told the graduating Grade 8 class to aspire to succeed in careers like accountancy and engineering instead – not politics,” he said.
“Politicians have no money and you will have no time with your family.
“I don’t have any money. Every time people are sleeping in my house.”
Isoaimo told the students the future of the nation was in their hands.
“It depends on how you steer it in what career you choose.
“Becoming an MP is the last job that you should think of. From my own view, politics is for lazy people and retired officers – they can play politics.
“Because many times politicians lie. Yes, a lot of people think that becoming a MP you will have a lot of money. But I’m finding it hard to believe that because I don’t have any money, honestly speaking.
“Every day people are sleeping in my house, every where I go people are following me and asking for money. So I have to practically give away everything.
“So when people are thinking that we MPs have money, I’m confused.
“Yes, greedy and corrupt ones (MPs) have a lot of money. But the honest ones are always broke.”
Isoaimo later visited community schools in Boridi and Manari villages in the Mt Koiari area after the graduation ceremony yesterday.
