Not much rainfall

PORT Moresby, Southern Highlands and Southern have not received as much rains as expected, the National Weather Service (NWS) says.
“The southern parts of the country have been fairly dry over the past 90 days,” NWS assisting director Jimmy Gomoga said.
“The northwest monsoon has not really kicked in for the country although it’s the wet season.”
Gomoga said the Mamose and New Guinea Islands regions as well as Northern and the Milne Bay islands had received some rain.
According to the office, the northwest winds had already come in which would bring in some afternoon showers during the week.
Rain and showers with thunderstorm activity has been expected to increase across the country.
He said temperatures would continue to be high as the country transited into a wet season and the Southern hemisphere summer.
He also advised people to trim trees before the wet season kicks as this was the tropical cyclone season to avoid accidents during these times.
