A business leader has encouraged youths to work their land to help themselves.
The managing director of Tropicana Ltd in East New Britain, Dame Sandra Lau told youths to make use of their land.
Speaking at the Tropical Palm Crops Efficient Cultivation and Product Processing Technology training course in Port Moresby this week, she said: “Youths must tap into agriculture and work hard for their own benefits.”
Dame Sandra said there was a need for people to get involved in agricultural activities in order to produce necessary nutritious products such as rice, wheat, sugarcane and vegetables.
“To minimise diseases we must plant and eat our own home grown produced food,” she said.
“Let us make agriculture in Papua New Guinea important so it can encourage the growth of other industries.
“I would like to challenge PNG that Chinese people are hardworking people and that has been the reason why China is a powerful country today.”
The six days training saw participation from participants come from Gulf, Department of Agriculture and other organisations.
