Competition manager Dimirit Mileng has challenged all 10 clubs to raise their standard of football to help expand the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League’s following this season.
Mileng told The National that after two rounds of football, teams were still finding their footing in the new season and he had challenged clubs to build their fan base for the season.
“The clubs have a lot of work to do,” he said.
“We want to see that the clubs have a strong fan base and we would like to see them work on pulling their supporters.
“But at the same, they have to show more flair in the game.”
“Teams have to work hard to make people want to come and see them.
“They need to showcase their style of football.
“We need the clubs to step up in that area.
“If the clubs can encourage their players to bring some spark into game, then they’re going to attract bigger crowd s as well.”
Meanwhile, Mileng said he was pleased with the start of the season following the first two rounds and was hopeful that the next seven rounds next year would provide more entertaining football.
“The important thing is that we’ve got the competition off the ground now and we would like to see the competition to continue improving.
“The clubs currently are still finding their footing.
“The scorelines don’t give an indication of where anyone is progressing into the next seven rounds.
“It’s still early to see how teams fit into the picture of the whole competition.
“Those who have prepared well while waiting for the start of the competition are more likely to play consistent football throughout the season.
“If they haven’t prepared well and the players have not got themselves focused on their matches, they will find it hard.”
