NEW SOUTH WALES professional golfer Josh Cabban won the 2015 SP Export PNG Open with an overall 12 under at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club yesterday.

The 22-year old golfer from the Blue Mountains of Sydney, New South Wales, led after Saturday, shooting past overnight leader Kris Mueck.

Cabban said he just turned professional four months ago and the PNG Open is his massive win in four month old career.

The New South Welshman said this was his first trip to PNG and he would love to come back and defend the title.

“It was great to play alongside Steven Jeffress and Matthew Ballard on Day Three and hopefully playing in the last group which consisted of Kris Mueck, Tim Hart and Daniel Fox spured him to perform well in front of the local crowd,” Cabban said.

An elated Cabban thanked SP Brewery for hosting a wonderful tournament.

“I’ve never played in front of a big crowd like this and the hospitality has been terrific.”

The runners up are Daniel Fox with 8 under and Josh Younger finishing third with -7 while Mueck finished disappointing on 6th spot with -4 under.

In the Amateur division, two members of the PNG Golf team, Soti Dingi (men) and Kristine Seko (women) won their respective title convincing against their opponents.
