DEI MP Westly Nukundj came to the rescue of 34 students from his Dei district, Western Highlands, attending the University of Goroka (UOG) by paying K34,000 in school fee subsidy last week.

This is one of the first moves Nukundj has undertaken to fulfil his priority to develop human resource for Dei district.

“I have realised the importance of getting quality education to help improve poor socio-economic indicators and I give education as my number one priority,” he said.

Nukundj said he had helped to build permanent classrooms in a number of primary schools with library buildings and teachers’ houses in the past 11 months.

He said he had set aside K220,000 to give to 220 Dei students attending universities.
