Numu supports project agreement review
EASTERN Highlands Governor Peter Numu is supporting the memorandum of agreement review for the Kainantu gold project being held in Kokopo, East New Britain, this week.
Numu made his stand known in light of internal disputes within the Bilimoia Landowner Association of the mining project.
He appealed to those involved to put aside their personal interests and think about the people.
He said the people of Bilimoia, Kainantu and Eastern Highlands had suffered long enough and wanted to see services and development through the project.
“We are ready,” he said.
“We have been missing out on too many important things.
“We want to see this (agreement) finalised.
“A leader would not want to see people just sitting there, watching companies extracting things from their land, without them benefiting from it.”
The agreement review was attended by officers from the Government, the Eastern Highlands government, the Bilimoia Landowners Association and developer K92 Mining Ltd.
It is expected to be signed tomorrow.

Why does a EHP mine agreement have to go to ENB for review
may be they do it offshore to avoid unnecessary intrusions.
