VILLAGERS in Yabim, Finschhafen, Morobe, will be provided jobs when a limestone project gets underway, says MP Rainbo Paita.
The villagers are from Busiga, Mange and Keta in ward nine of the Yabim local level government.
A special economic zone and industrial park are also on the plan.
Paita said the first priority for employment would be given to landowners.
“This is your chance to benefit from this project,” he said.
“Land is not money but if you develop it you will see its value. This limestone project is very important with the Government supporting it.
“The market is overseas.”
Mange village chief Yaking Tenge, who has 11 years of experience in mining, said the biggest issue was land.
“If we have issues, we must fix them,” he said.
“This is our golden chance to sustain ourselves.
“Leaders in the villages must think positively and do something.”
The district development authority engaged Chinese company AG Investment to develop the projects.
Paita told the villagers that the company was not new to the country as it had already been involved in some big projects.
AG Investment had constructed hydro-power projects in Port Moresby, Bulolo, Kokopo and Popondetta.
It will also work on the Mongi Hydro in Burum Kuat.
