Newly elected Papua New Guinea Nurses Association officials were declared and sworn into office before District Court Magistrate Tracy Ganaii in Port Moresby this week.
Frederick Kebai, who became the president with 1233 votes in an election conducted by the Electoral Commission, said that he was humbled and honoured to serve the people who put their trust in him.
The vice-president’s seat is still vacant and so as many seats in the provincial and regional levels.
Damaris Penias is the new national Papua New Guinea Nurses Association treasurer. “The declaration of the new executives range from provincial level to regional and national level, and it is an achievement for the association,” acting general secretary Desai Deregi said.
“The provincial branch managers and regional managers will work closely with the PNGNA to achieve its aims, goals and objectives.”
The association, which allows registered nurses across the country to become members, is a plat form for nurses to express their voices on certain issues, including their work conditions through a collective voice.
