Nurses caught in NHC-contractor dispute

ALLOW me to comment on the K3.8 million paid by the Nurses Association to the National Housing Corporation (NHC) to purchase 18 houses at Gerehu stage 3B about five years ago.

There is no reason whatsoever for the contractor, Roadstoa Ltd, to deny the nurses for two years from taking possession of their houses,

which have been sitting idle and are being abused

by vagrants.

Any outstanding payment should be a matter for the contractor and the NHC to sort out among themselves.

The nurses should be allowed to move into the houses and change the locks.

I sympathise with the nurses who are victims of poor management decisions by the NHC.

As an instrument of the state, the NHC is a self-insured body and can be accountable to liabilities for Roadstoa to pursue without blackmailing the nurses.
