GENERAL nursing student Nathalie Lucas is eager to start school again after a long holiday.
Lucas, from Morobe, is among 2,000 students who are enrolled with the Asia Pacific Institute of Applied Social, Economic and Technical Studies.
“I chose the course because I want to help sick relatives, family and the people in this country,” she said.
Lucas attended the occupation and health safety training in Lae before she applied to be enrolled at the institute for general nursing.
“I am also very happy because I also received a three-year scholarship to complete my studies,” she said.
Lucas said she was not only registered for studies, but, also given a position of marketing and sales department in the school.
“I will do my best to do work and most importantly concentrate on my studies as my parents have spent a lot for my education,” she added.
Institute director Thomas Pillai said the school provided second opportunity for students under the motto no dreams and aspirations will be shattered.
“The Government needs to do a lot by building new institutions or partnering with the existing intuitions to support school leavers,” he said.
