OCEANIA Football Confederation president Lambert Maltock says he is eager to work with re-elected national soccer boss John Kapi Natto to develop the sport in the country and region.
He extended his congratulations to president Kapi Natto and his new executive committee on their election during the Papua New Guinea Football Association’s 16th congress in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Kapi Natto was re-elected unopposed for a four-year term.
Maltock praised him for showing steady hands to steer the game in PNG through some turbulent waters since taking up the presidency in October 2018.
“On behalf of the OFC family, I congratulate Kapi Natto on his re-election and I look forward to continuing to work with him and the new executive committee,” he said.
“PNG football has a proud history and a bright future and I support Kapi Natto’s vision to keep developing the game in his member association as well as across the entire region.
“Since his election in 2018, Kapi Natto and his team have introduced positive reforms within PNGFA and I thank them all for their hard work to help take our game forward. Football will return in the Pacific soon as we continue to recover from the coronavirus pandemic and it’s pleasing to see that we have so many passionate people involved in the game,” he said.
Apart from Kapi Natto’s re-election, the congress also picked new executive committee members comprising vice-presidents representing the four regions, a women’s representative and four ordinary members as per the new PNGFA statutes.
The vice-presidents are Siegfried Beschel (Mamose), Francis Ank (Highlands), Morea Vavine (Southern), Justine Helele (New Guinea Islands) while the four ordinary members are Jack Changau (NGI), Joshua Kayengkim (Southern), Diana Uran (Highlands) and Jackson Varcili (Mamose), and women’s representative Jean Gariki. – OFC

  • Congratulations Kapi Natto for your reelection into your second term. Please try to work together with FIFA and at least get PNG In to world Cup 2022 at Qarta. I’m from WHP and Provincial Soccer League in WHP is corrupted , Nepotism ,weak and Lack leadership.

  • I’d also like to recommend mr kapi natto for his leadership. He has done a lot in his career. Papua New Guinea needs more of these kind of leadership in sports or even polictics.
