EAST New Britain election manager Joap Voivoi says his office has taken up the role of ensuring information required for voters on ward electoral rolls is completed and verified.
He was commenting on an issue experienced in the last general election where all eligible voters’ names were listed in the province, however, some were missing when the final rolls were returned from the Electoral Commission.
Voivoi said his office was tasked with quality checks and verifying and ensuring that required information was on the voter enrolment forms before it was sent to Port Moresby. He said some voters’ names were not on the final ward rolls that came back to the province was because some voter enrolment forms were incomplete.
Voivoi said incomplete forms were not processed, which resulted in a number of names missing in the final ward rolls.
“So far, my office has received completed enrolment ward roll from five local level governments (LLGs) of Balanataman, Watom, Kombiu, Duke of York Island and Sinivit, while ward rolls for Rabaul urban and Bitapaka LLGs have been finalised and will be sent to Port Moresby,” he said.
