We’re ready to endorse women: Party

THE Papua New Guinea National Party is ready to endorse, support and work with women for the upcoming national elections, general secretary Dick Wama says.
Wama assured the public of his party’s stance on female participation.
“We want equal participation as women must be taken on board at all times in decision-making and anything to do for the good of this country,” he said.
“We have a lot of credible, powerful women out there.
“Women have to approach us as make themselves known and ensure that they register themselves.”
Wama provided an example of a female candidate the party had endorsed in the previous elections and although she came in third, the message was that they would support her to run again next year.
“We are also talking to a couple of intending female candidates; I have two on the list already and I’m currently looking at another three or four,” he said.
