Office yet to receive funds

 THE Jiwaka provincial disaster office is still waiting for its share of the K10 million allocated by the Government in February for provinces hit by natural disasters.

Deputy provincial administrator and disaster coordinator Joseph Nop Amban told The National that the Finance Department issued a warrant for the released of disaster funds on March 25. But no funds had been received.

Amban said Jiwaka was allocated K290,000 while Western Highlands got K1,055,000.

The Finance Department told them that the money was deposited into the provincial treasury accounts.

Amban said his office would carry out relief and recovery exercise as soon as he received the money.
