Hela to receive power

 THE people of Hela and parts of Southern Highlands will soon receive power supply. 

A contractor engaged by the Government to pull power lines and put up power posts from Mendi to Hela has already started work. 

An employee of NBD contractors, Sandep Apo, told The National it would take a week or two to reach Mendi. 

Apo said they started pulling lines and putting up posts from Towan village in Nipa. 

He said they were now at Poroma. 

“After Hela is done, we will pull power lines from Poroma to Kikori in Gulf,” he said. 

“We are trying our best to complete the project on time before the official opening in September.”
